Normally I only give 1-star or 5-star reviews. But this one... difficult decision...

I mean, the movie itself is ok, with all the nice visual effects and stuff - IF you haven't read the book already, that is. But if you have, then you probably won't like it much...

Especially the ending, which I think is simply ridiculous. Not only did it not follow the original version (the book), it actually altered it, in a way that doesn't make any sense at all.

If you're interested in reading the book I'd suggest that you read the book first and watch the movie later if you absolutely must see it.

ps. What's up with those kids???? Do you actually call that acting???!!!

psps. I still like Harry Potter and LOTR better.

ReviewReviewReviewHP PSC 1410 All-in-One PrinterFeb 18, '06 7:59 AM

The newest member of my home office - HP PSC 1410 All-in-One Printer... It's just... NEAT !

I've been using Epson printers all my life (well, except for the huge Xerox laser printers in the office), but each and every one of them just died on me. Epson's colors are nice, but their ink nozzles simply suck.

So tonight, when another Epson inkjet printer died on me again, I went to the computer center in MK hunting for a new printer.

At first, I didn't know whether I should get an Epson or HP. I also wasn't sure if I wanna get a simple inkjet printer or an all-in-one. So I walked around a little, spent 5 minutes listening to a guy selling his Epson, then another 5 minutes listening to another guy selling HP, and I made the decision to buy the HP.

Both brands offer an entry level all-in-one for SOHO use. The Epson Stylus CX4100 sets you back a HKD988.00 (before discount), got all the basic functions like printing, scanning and copying. Its advantage is that it got separated ink cartridges which means when a single color runs out, you don't have to replace the whole pack. However, the one big disadvantage is that when any color ink is out, you can't print black and white documents either. This has been a great annoyance to me in the past. Not to mention that although the salesperson told me Epson has improved their nozzles, I'm just not so sure if I could depend on them.

So I went to the HP guy, and saw that the PSC 1410 All-in-One Printer costs only HKD670.00. Their specifications are quite similar, and what I love about HP printers is that the ink nozzles come with the ink cartridges, so it's very unlikely that you'll get a nozzle problem.

I haven't tried out all the functions yet, but from what I saw in their sample prints, the photo printing quality is good enough for any home or office use.

ReviewApple's iWebFeb 9, '06 3:43 PM

I still remember being excited and all when I first watched His Steveness presented the iWeb during MWSF. And I also remember how I said "That's so cool ! I gotta grab one of those !"

Tonight, I finally got a chance to test drive it. My thoughts? One word, and THE one word that I never ever ever ever never ever ever thought I would apply on any Apple products - SUCKS.

The code it generates is a COMPLETE disaster. I didn't even need to try out the blogging (no commenting system and messy non-sense URLs) and RSS and photocasting (totally non-standard codes) which everyone is complaining about. All I did was a simple welcome page, and as soon as I got it published to my local drive and took a look at the codes, I thought, "man, this app really SUCKS !"

First off, it doesn't make use of the CSS. Sure it does generate a stylesheet, but there are like 3 styles in the stylesheet and everything else is hard-coded in the HTML. WHAT ON EARTH?

Second, why the HELL would any sane person @ Apple thought people would like to have all the text that they entered on the welcome page be converted into images??? Is that stupid or what? And since my text has all became images, all the links that I included in the text turned into hotspots on an image map. HELLO? I thought I was using iWeb, not Dreamweaver???

Speaking of links. Almost all the linked files / images were fucked up after I published the site on my local drive. I almost laughed out loud when I looked at the paths that it generated. As a result, I had to correct all the paths myself in both the javascript file and index file.

Y'all know how I LOVE apple. But this time, really, BAD APPLE !

ps. Don't take my word for it though. Do a search on TUAW and see what I mean.

Watched it with my girlfriend again last nite. It's such a great movie. I dun really know how best to describe it, it's just.... touching. And lots of memories flashed through my mind when I watched it. Had to try very hard to not let the tears roll down my face. If you haven't seen it yet, you gotta check it out.

Some of the quotes / scenes that I like most -

*****

Clem to Joel: I'm not a concept. Too many guys think I'm a concept or I complete them or I'm going to make them alive, but I'm just a fucked up girl who is looking for my own peace of mind. Don't assign me yours.

*****

(Before the last bit of memory of Clem got erased from Joel's mind)
Clementine: This is it, Joel. It's going to be gone soon.
Joel: I know.
Clementine: What do we do?
Joel: Enjoy it.

*****

(Joel tells Clem that she was the one who started this memory-erasing thing)
Clementine: You know me, I'm impulsive.
Joel: That's what I love about you

*****

(Mary reads to Dr. Mierzwiak out of "Bartlett's Familiar Quotations"; the lines are from Alexander Pope's poem "Eloisa to Abelard")
How happy is the blameless Vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd.

*****

(Mary asks Stan how she looked like when she was with Howard)
Mary: How did I look?
Stan: You looked happy. Happy with a secret.

*****

(First lines of the movie)
Joel: [voice over] random thoughts for Valentine's day, 2004. Today is a holiday invented by greeting card companies to make people feel like crap.

*****

Clementine: I wish you had stayed.
Joel: I wish I had stayed too. I swear to god I wish I had stayed. I wish I had done a lot of things. I wish... I wish I had stayed.

*****

"I wish I had done a lot of things"....

Allume Systems has released Stuffit 10. This update features a real laundry list of improvements and changes, including Spotlight and Automator support. You can now use Spotlight to search for files stored in StuffIt, Zip, and Tar archives, as well as compress and expand archives with Automator workflows. For a full list of what this update brings, look here.

I must admit I've pretty much abandoned Stuffit now that I can just select "Create archive" from within a Finder contextual menu, but my needs in this area are minimal.

Stuffit 10 requires Mac OS 10.3 or better, and will cost you $79.99US for a single license. Current users can upgrade for $29.99US.

( tagline and plot outline by: IMDB )

a great movie, Will Smith is cute and funny as ever, Eva Mendes is hot except for her big butt, and hmmm.... either i've been watching lotsa great movies lately or i've been very emotional, i found tears rolling down my cheek again...

and i like this....
"Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away."

If you havent watched it yet, you should.

It could seem a bit boring at the beginning, but perhaps it has a lot to do with who you watch it with.... :p

anyway it's a very imaginative and interesting story, I would've been crying so hard if I watched it alone.

movie began, quite exciting, nice effects n all, tom was cute as usual, n i was really enjoying the show.

that's it, up to the 1st half of the movie....i'd say the turning pt was the grenade....as soon as it went off, i was like, o shit, "lai-yeah" !! the 2nd half of the movie and the ending disappointed me big time.

maybe i should've read the book, instead of seeing the movie.....
